
Marta Rossi obtained her Ph.D. in Mechanical and Management Engineering from the Università Politecnica delle Marche in 2011, with a dissertation titled “Ecodesign methods and tools: development of integrated systems to foster sustainability in industrial companies.” Since October 2022, she has been an Associate Professor in IIND-03/B (Design and Methods of Industrial Engineering).
Her research focuses on the study and development of methods and tools for the design of eco-sustainable products and services. Specifically, her work aims to integrate sustainability-oriented methods and tools into conventional design practices to support designers in developing environmentally sustainable products, processes, and services.
Her research is primarily conducted within European research projects (starting from FP7), as well as national and regional projects. She is the co-author of numerous scientific publications.
Her main research activities include:
- The study and development of methods and tools for product, process, and service environmental sustainability to support early-stage design;
- The study and development of knowledge-based methods and tools to aid the design of low-environmental-impact products;
- The assessment and quantification of product, process, and service environmental impact through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies and tools;
- The evaluation of sustainability traceability in supply chains.
