MICHELA SIMONCINI

Michela Simoncini is Associate Professor in the scientific sector ING/IND-16, Manufacturing Technologies and Systems, at the Faculty of Engineering of the eCAMPUS University since 2015.
She graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Marche on 08/07/2003, discussing a thesis about “Hot rolling cycles of the AA6082 alloy using laboratory simulation techniques”.
She obtained the title of PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Engineering Faculty of the Polytechnic University of Marche on 13/12/2006, discussing a thesis entitled “Forming problems of magnesium alloy sheet metal”.
She has been a member of the University Quality Presidium of the eCAMPUS University since December 2015.
She is a member of the A.I.Te.M. (Italian Association of Manufacturing Technologies) and ESAFORM (European Scientific Association for Material Forming)

Her research activity is focused on:

  • innovative manufacturing processes: hot and cold plastic deformation processes, machining processes and solid-state welding processes, applied to advanced materials such as innovative metal alloys, composites with both discontinuous and continuous carbon reinforcement phase;
  • sustainable production, using the Life Cycle Assessment methodology to evaluate the environmental impact of manufacturing processes;
  • design and control of manufacturing processes, using FEM simulation and artificial neural networks-based techniques
  • She is co-author of over 100 publications in international and national journals and conference proceedings
